LAG Application Likely For Town Hall Refurbishment

The Council is likely to apply for LAG cash to refurbish the Town Hall public areas.

At last week’s policy and resources committee, Chief Planning Officer, Craig Dryden, told members that they’re hoping to apply for LAG money for the work but the “clock was ticking” as they need to submit their application by autumn.

Councillors agreed to spend an additional £7,000 to progress the plans.

The proposed changes include improving the toilets, providing a ‘green room’ for performers, better changing facilities and a new kitchen area.

Craig said the heating system was also in urgent need of repair before winter.

The £7,000 will come from the reserves in the property and repairs budget and will be on top of the £24,000 already earmarked for detailed architectural and survey work.
