Andrew George Visits Burma

Scilly’s MP, Andrew George

Scilly’s Member of Parliament has heard first hand what it is like to live under the Burmese regime. Andrew George met a range of Myanmar MPs on a short tour last week with three Westminster colleagues.

Mr George also spent two hours with the Nobel peace prizewinner Aung San Suu Kyi.

He told Radio Scilly that he was keen to visit the country, as MPs want to build links with Burma before their next stage in the transition to democracy.

Andrew says he’s keen to ensure that the international community continues to monitor progress and that there is a free and fair election in 2015.
