Cricket: St Martin’s Host Bayshill Team

Report by Colin Daly

It was so pleasant to see again our old friends from Bayshill cricket team on Sunday 29th July, which now contains a number of their next generation.

A thirty over match was decided upon on a day bathed in sunshine. St. Martin’s won the toss and decided to bat first.

Two living beings shout out for mention; Matt Kerrigan who hit an excellent 115 and the dog Bramble who found the ball in the many rough spots beyond the boundary where Matt had dispatched it. Joe Morton batting with Matt scored 54.

The bowling was not able to penetrate and a score of 263 for 3 was posted.

In reply to this massive total, Bayshill scored 134 for 6; A. Van Dyke top scored with 43. There was then a chance to mull over things with a visit to the Hotel to round off a beautiful day.
