New Property Approved At Telegraph

A new property at Telegraph has been granted planning approval.

The proposed two-bedroomed house on land adjacent to Trefusis on Pungies Lane will be built for the Duchy of Cornwall. It will be a timber-framed construction, rendered on the outside and with a slate roof.

Chief Planning Officer, Craig Dryden, said the building would be acceptable as it will be on an infill site within the existing settlement. But he recommended adding a ‘Section 106’ condition, restricting occupancy to those with a defined local need.

Councillor Dudley Mumford said the majority of the properties in the area were bungalows and he felt this two-story building could be more prominent.

And Council Chairman, Mike Hicks described it as “like trying to put a quart in a pint pot.”

But Craig considered it to have minimal impact, as the roofline was no higher than the neighbouring properties and it was a one-and-a-half storey design. He also felt the design looked like the local vernacular and was appropriate for the corner plot proposed.
