Stride For Life Run Taking Place Tomorrow

The fourth Stride for Life 5 km walk or run sets off around St Mary’s tomorrow at 11am from the Bishop and Wolf.

And organizers of the Cancer Research UK fundraiser are hoping the good weather that’s forecast will bring a better turnout and more money than 2011.

Last year, poor weather brought in around half of the cash organizers had hoped to raise, around £1,800.

Sheila Thomas says she’d like islanders to have fun and fancy dress is welcome.

She doesn’t know how many people will turn out tomorrow because she says you can never tell from sign-ups before the day. 30 people preregistered last year but 160 turned up on the day to take part.

22 have registered so far this year and Sheila says holidaymakers are very welcome too.
