New Chairman For School Governors

The Five Islands School

The school governors have a new chairman

Ben Julian who lives on St Martin’s was elected last night and St Agnes resident, Carol Hicks will serve as vice chair.

There had been concerns that if the two roles had not been filled then the Council could move to appoint a board of governors. Several governors have resigned in the wake of the suspension and departure of the former school head teacher, Bryce Wilby.

There have also been four applications for the two parent governor vacancies. Lynn Blackwell, Rob Hughes, Gina Smith, Paula Smith are standing and parents have been sent ballot papers.

The closing date and count is next Wednesday.
