Sick Man Winched From Scillonian III
The RNAS Culdrose helicopter was called out to the Scillonian III at just after 6pm last night.
A 75-year-old man on board had collapsed with a suspected heart attack
The boat was off Land’s End when the patient and his wife, together with their luggage, was winched up before they were flown to Treliske.
Eyewitness Amanda Cook was returning home to Hampshire after a week on St Mary’s. She said the sea was rough, but the pilot was fantastic at getting the helicopter close to the boat and lowering the rope and harness accurately.
The whole operation took around 30 minutes and the boat had to change course resulting in the Scillonian III arriving back into Penzance late.
