MP To Meet School Governors And Council Staff During Visit

Andrew George, MP

Scilly’s MP will meet with Five Islands School governors on Thursday.

Andrew George has raised concerns on behalf of constituents with the Secretary of State for Education following the recent suspension and then resignation of the school’s former head teacher, Bryce Wilby.

He’ll also take up education issues and governance in a private session with the Chairman of Council and Chief Officers at the Town Hall and discuss governance issues with the Authority.

Those issues will also occupy the MP’s evening as he addresses the Heart of Scilly meeting in the Town Hall.

Another issue he says he’ll be addressing is the future of the GP surgery on the islands.

The MP will also meet locals in a private surgery session at the Manse between 11am and 1pm and will also be posing for photos at 10.45am at the fuel Pumps at Porthcressa.

He’s going on a PR exercise to Sibleys to point out that he’s backed the 5p per litre road fuel reduction on fuel duty for islanders and motorists in rural areas
