Police Called After Death On Cruise Ship

St Mary’s Police boarded the cruise ship Europa on Saturday lunchtime following the death of a passenger.

Two officers went out to the boat, which was anchored in Crow Sound, just after 1pm. The local officers, acting on behalf of the coroner, had to check that there were no suspicious circumstances.

The woman in her 50s was a German national and was travelling with her sister. She had a history of poor health. The ambulance boat took the deceased to St Mary’s quay where, she was transferred to the hospital, and arrangements will be made to repatriate her with family in Berlin

The Europa set sail to Penzance with 361 passengers on board at around midnight on Saturday.
