Police Confirm Commitment To Scilly Following Report

Devon and Cornwall Police may not offer, “an efficient or effective service” in the future because of job losses.

That’s the view of Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabularies. They carry out independent inspections of Police.

Between now and March 2015, 600 police and over half as many office staff will go in an effort to trim £50m off budgets.

But the force yesterday confirmed the former Chief Constable Steven Otter’s commitment not to reduce officer numbers here on the islands.

A press spokesman said he has checked and there are no plans to reduce staffing at St Mary’s from three full-time officers and one PCSO.
