Shopping Online Could Give Boost To School PTA

The Five Islands School PTA has come up with a novel way to raise funds.

You can earn money for the school while you shop online.

PTA Chair, Sam Mallon, said it’s incredibly simple. You sign up to the scheme at and select the ‘Five Islands School PTA – St Mary’s’ as your preferred charity.

They’ll get 50p for everyone who enrols, as well as cash bonuses for each purchase made through the scheme. Over 2,000 online retailers are part of this scheme including Amazon, Boden, John Lewis, M&S, Expedia, eBay, Argos and many more.

Sam says signing up costs absolutely nothing but every penny raised will benefit the school children. She’s hopeful the scheme could be a real winner with so many islanders using online shopping and she says the PTA could raise even more if people ask family and friends to register too.

The PTA has been very active recently. They funded the recent year 11 leaving dinner at Tregarthen’s Hotel and Sam says everyone had a fantastic evening.

And on Friday 6th July from 3.15pm to 4.15pm, the PTA will be holding an after-school event, with cakes and refreshments for sale on the MUGA. Beth Collier will be selling greetings cards with a proportion of the funds going to the PTA. There will also be a sale of girls’ clothes.
