Airport Staff Praised After CAA Review

St Mary's Airport

The airport staff have been commended after a positive review by Civil Aviation Authority inspectors. For two days from the 22nd of May, St Mary’s airport and Tresco heliport were assed for compliance with CAA safety, fire and rescue regulations.

Howard Cole says no operational, or fire and rescue issues were found that warranted action in the most serious categories for inspection.

A handful of minor problems that the inspectors suggested needed dealing with have already been addressed.

Council Chairman Mike Hicks praised the staff and said the result of the inspection was a credit to the way the airport has been operated.

He said that staff had done a “brilliant job” especially as a new auditing team came to assess the airport.
