Fish Sales To Public Restart On St Mary’s Quay

Sales of fresh fish to the public have started once again from St Mary’s quay.

The new service, called the Fish Box, will be selling fish and shellfish caught in the waters around Scilly by Richard and Colin Jenkins on the boat Kay Larie.

Colin’s partner, Amy Hiron, who was manning the stall on the first day of sales yesterday afternoon, said business was brisk and she’d almost sold out after just twenty minutes.

Last year, local fisherman Peter Watts started fish sales on the quay but decided not to continue this year.

Amy said there aren’t many places people can buy fresh fish in Scilly any more so decided to pick up where Pete left off with the new stall. She said all the fish will be freshly caught and seasonal. Yesterday, she had crab, lobster and pollack but is hoping for crayfish later in the season.

The Fish Box is open on the Old Quay at St Mary’s on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
