Cricket: St Martin’s v. St Agnes

Report by Colin Daly

It is always a pleasure to visit the beautiful island of St. Agnes; one that the St. Martin’s cricket team has had too infrequently in the last couple of years.

It was a cloudy day and it took some time for the St. Agnes team to appear, so it was decided that those there from the St. Agnes team should bat first while this was going on.

They started their 25 overs steadily but with more haste as they moved toward the end of their innings. They amassed a total of 148 with T. Hick and Mark scoring 45 each; J. Smith took 4 wickets for 25 runs.

St. Martin’s passed this total with a few overs to spare; J. Heggarty had top scored with 28 when he was run out.

A good day followed by beer and analysis before St. Martin’s returned home.
