Organisers Ready For Tresco Triathlon

The weather looks good for tomorrow’s Tresco Triathlon. Five mainland competitors and 15 people from St Mary’s are amongst the 43 registered entrants who will cycle, run and swim from 2pm tomorrow.

They’re aiming to raise £5,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Pete Marshall is this year’s event organiser. He says there will be quite a few entrants this year from Tresco’s new staff.

And for some this will be their first triathlon. He says, as it’s right on their doorstep, they wanted to give it a try.

Pete says the Tresco entrants have been training hard and he’s confident they’ll all do well, although he says some of the mainland entrants are serious contenders

Bad weather last year has helped improve the event by road testing a better start location for the swim.

Pete says they switched the swim to Old Grimsby, which is calmer and much better for the switch over, so they’ve kept that change this year.

Boats leaves St Mary’s at 11.30am tomorrow and there’s a later boat leaving New Grimsby at 8.30pm.

Live music will feature Noxious between 3pm and 5pm at the Inn and Sam McKenzie wll be on in the evening.
