Guides And Scouts Attending Jubilee Camp

Members of St Mary’s Guides and Scouts organisations have been attending a special Jubilee camp in Buckinghamshire this week.

The nine Guides, two Scouts, a Brownie and four Section Leaders have joined thousands of their colleagues from the South East region at the PACCAR camp near Chalfont St Peter.

And Guide leader, Fiona Robson, says the youngsters have been making quite an impact.

They’ve come first in the camp’s version of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ with a Red Arrows-inspired dance routine called the ‘Red Barrows.’

This involved covering suitcases in red T-shirts and pushing then around the stage to the music from The Dambusters.

Three guides, Phoebe, Estelle and Tara, came second with their Lady Gaga dance number, beating off stiff competition from 18 other acts at the huge event.

The four-day camp which started on Monday has also given the group a chance to try their hand at a range of outdoor activities including bush craft, abseiling, high ropes through the forest and zip wires.

They took some time out to go shopping yesterday and will be visiting Windsor Castle today.

Fiona says it hasn’t stopped raining for the whole time but everyone has had a fantastic time despite the weather.

She says the whole group has thrown themselves into every activity with a huge amount of energy.

“They all think we’re completely nuts,” said Fiona.
