HEART Group Wants To Support Council Whistleblowers

The Town Hall

The group set up to force change within the Council say they want to do what they can to help Town Hall staff expose the activities or actions of the organisation.

The first meeting of HEART last Thursday packed the Town Hall with over 160 islanders.

Over the weekend they have stated among their aims that that they need to back and support whistleblowers. HEART claim people are frightened to speak out on the islands.

But HEART spokespeople haven’t been able to answer our request for information on how they expect to provide that support here.

They have offered weblinks to a London-based charity, Public Concern at Work, that helps people lift the lid on workplace practices and have suggested that people use search engines to find out more.

One of the questions the group wants answered is whether Councillors have access to legal advice, independent of that provided to the Chief Officers and contracted through Cornwall Council.
