Next Islands’ Police Constable Announced

St Mary’s Police team has announced the name of their next colleague.

PC Faye Webb will replace PC Marc Blyth when he leaves at the end of his two-year term in August.

Inspector Jean Phillips and Sergeant Colin Taylor interviewed the three candidates on Friday. Jean said all of them were really good and suitable for the post but Faye stood out as the best person for the role.

Colin says this is the first time a female police officer has been appointed into the permanent, year-round position on the islands.

PC Webb is currently a neighbourhood beat manager in Whitleigh, Plymouth and is expected to move to the islands to take up the role later in the summer.

Jean stressed that the decision still needs sign-off by headquarters and everyone who moves gets vetted again, but she doesn’t anticipate any problems.
