Carn Thomas To Get Temporary Rock Climbing Wall

Ever fancied having a go at rock climbing? You could get the chance next weekend when a climbing wall will be installed at Carn Thomas.

Organiser Jim Johnson says the 9 metre high structure, brought over by Kings Lynn-based company, Highline Adventures, is suitable for anyone over the age of 6 years and he’s particularly keen to get mums and dads having a go too.

Jim says the wall can take six climbers at a time so families can have a go together.

All safety equipment will be provided and you don’t need any previous experience, as there will be trainers on hand to supervise the climbing. You just need a head for heights says Jim!

The wall has different sections with easy and hard surfaces, including overhangs.

Jim says they hope to put the wall, which is roughly the same height as the fire station training tower, in the car park at the front of the Carn Thomas site, although they have alternative plans if the winds are too high.

The wall is arriving on the Scillonian on Friday the 18th May and climbing sessions will be run on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th. Each session is an hour long and costs £2.50. Book by contacting Penelope at the Children’s Services team on 423680.
