Police Warn People To Review Home Security

Scilly’s most senior police officer is telling people to review their home security after three incidents recently in which someone has entered a house without permission.

Sergeant Colin Taylor says nothing was taken, so no crime was recorded. On one occasion, the toilet was used.

Colin says the most recent case was yesterday in Old Town, where a resident heard their door open.

And police have revealed that earlier in the year, money was taken from a home on the islands. Colin says that money was being saved for a holiday and he urges people to either keep money in a bank or use a safe at home.

Colin says there is no evidence of a link between these incidents. He says he’s not recommending that doors are locked, as that’s a personal choice, but especially with Gig Weekend coming up, people need to consider the security of their own home and their possessions.
