Lord Lieutenant To Launch New Gig

The new Tregarthen's gig being readied for her launch in May

The new Tregarthens gig is set to be launched and named by the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, Colonel Edward Bolitho.

Tregarthen’s, has been built by Peter Martin at Porthloo and has taken six months to build.

The ceremony will take place at the Reckabite Slip at 11.45am on 4th May.

Canon Peter Walker and Reverend Charlie Gibbs will bless the gig at the ceremony.

Edward Bolitho, says it is great to see continued investment in the islands’ traditional sport and he is pleased that the gig club decided to ‘buy local’ and have a local craftsman build the new gig.
