Charity Shop To Change Opening Hours For Off-Islanders

The Church Hall Charity Shop will change its opening hours to better serve Off-Islanders who traditionally visit St Mary’s on Thursdays for shopping.

The volunteers met yesterday to discuss the idea.

Organiser Sue Hodgson says there’ll be more consultation over whether they change the current 2.00pm to 4.00pm opening, to 10.00am or midday.

The change, whatever it is, will be in place from the 26th April.

Sue says she’s constantly being asked by the Off-Islanders to alter the times and the 11.00am to 2.00pm opening over the Christmas period proved very popular.

Sue says the islands rely on the popular charity shop but the service is dependent on helpers and they are currently in need of more people.

There’s a lot of work that needs doing outside the three opening periods each week. Helpers are needed to sort donations, put them on display and pack them away after the sessions at the Church Hall.

You can contact Sue at home in Porthloo on 422 641 if you want to volunteer, especially for the Saturday session.
