MP Visiting Scilly’s Iconic Lighthouses

Bishop Rock lighthouse, as seen from St Agnes

MP for Scilly, Andrew George, will be helicoptered onto two of our areas most iconic lighthouses today.

He’ll be accompanied by Trinity House regional operations manager, Simon Milyard and his maintenance staff on a visit to Bishop Rock and Wolf Rock lighthouses.

Andrew claims a keen interest in ensuring Trinity House maintains its commitment to our local marks in such a busy shipping area.

He says he is mindful of both the Torrey Canyon and the Cita wrecks when he attends the all- party Parliamentary Maritime group, of which he is a member.

Andrew says he will seek assurances that there’ll be no reduction in power of the lights or loss of the service despite the increased adoption of technology in shipping, and financial pressure on Trinity House.
