New Volunteer Desk Being Launched

Volunteer desk will be in the temporary library at Carn Thomas

A new Volunteer Desk is being launched in the Library next week.

Volunteer coordinator, Lisa Magill Brown, says the desk will be manned once a week by an advisor, who can give information to new volunteers or those looking for help.

There will also be a notice board for times when the advisor isn’t present.

Lisa says there has been a good response to recent calls for volunteers on the islands, such as the relaunched Island Response, but there’s still a shortage of drivers for the Meals-on-Wheels service.

She’s also looking for people to volunteer for ‘Intergenerational Gardening’ an initiative to match young gardeners to older residents who need help.

Lisa says there will be a small celebration to launch the service next Thursday, March 29th at 11.30 am.

This will also be a chance for people who have taken part in the training courses offered by Volunteer Scilly, to collect their First Aid and other training course certificates.
