Fog Cancels Charity Walk Visit

Phil Packer

A former military policeman who suffered severe spinal injuries when he was injured in Basra in 2008 has been forced to drop Scilly from his round-Britain charity walk.

The foggy conditions yesterday meant Phil Packer was unable to come over for a 5-mile walk around St Mary’s as part of his 2,012 mile Brit 2012 challenge.

He had hoped his visit would raise awareness for his British Inspiration Trust, which aims to support young people facing adversity.

Phil had to be in Plymouth to walk with the marines today and his spokesperson Aimee Bates says they couldn’t risk him being fogbound.

He says he looks forward to re-scheduling his visit to later on this year.
