Theatre Club Holding Auditions This Week

St Mary’s Theatre Club is holding auditions for the new summer performance this week.

This year’s play is the murder-mystery, Murder in Company, by Philip King and John Boland, which centres on an amateur dramatic group rehearsing for their current production on the stage of a church hall.

Director, Kevin Lehman, says the play, which he describes as a black comedy, has some great parts, including four lead male and four lead female roles with age ranges from 20 to 50 years.

The play was written in the 70’s but the club haven’t decided yet which period to set their production in.

Kevin says anyone wanting to come along and audition is very welcome, although they will need to commit to two nights of performances and one of rehearsals every fortnight during the summer season, which runs from mid June to mid September.

Auditions are being held in the Town Hall on Wednesday and Thursday from 7.30 pm to 9.00 pm.

Kevin says anyone interested in behind the scenes work such as props and sound, should contact him on 422618.

Last year’s performance of Noel Coward’s Present Laughter won the club top marks for best actor and best costumes in the Cornwall Drama Association Awards.
