Judo Club Gets Stuck On Mainland

A weekend away for a judo contest has turned into a longer break from the Islands for the twelve youngsters taking part.

Yesterday, members of the St Mary’s Judo Club were stuck on the mainland all day because of the fog.

Organiser Duncan Graham said he was delighted at how well the Islands’ youngsters performed and eight of the twelve participants in the county team championships at Penzance leisure centre gained medals – five silvers and three bronzes.

He said the kids behaved impeccably during a boring day of waiting around yesterday.

He was expecting chaos, but luckily, Duncan made a provisional booking at the youth hostel for the kids’ stay last night.

He said he was planning to take them swimming to try and burn off some energy.
