Bicycle Attacked In Hugh Town

St Mary’s police are appealing for witnesses after a bike was vandalised in Hugh Town.

Sergeant Colin Taylor says the bike was parked at the rear of the Steamship Company offices and was attacked sometime between 4.30 pm and 8.00 pm on Wednesday evening.

Both tyres were punctured and a silver, torch-style, front headlight was removed. The light was later recovered on Town beach.

Colin says the act appeared to be “senseless” and has created “a level of anxiety in the owner that isn’t needed.” He doesn’t know yet whether it was malicious or a random act of vandalism.

He has appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the damage, or seen anyone acting suspiciously, to get in touch with him at St Mary’s police station.
