Tregarthen’s Hotel Unveils New Patio Feature

Tregarthen’s Hotel has had a striking new feature added to its terrace.

The hotel’s patio area has been fitted with three new canvas sails, to act as sunshades, in time for the hotel’s opening for the season this evening (Friday).

Keith Buchanan of St Mary’s-based company, Ratbags, who made the sail-shades, says the design is based on one of the first tour boats to serve Scilly, the Little Western, which operated the service between 1858 and 1872 and was owned by the original tenant of what was then Tregarthen’s House.

Keith says the three sails cover around 60 sqm and are designed purely to act as sun shades.

The sails will be lowered each evening.
