Scilly Coastwatch Group Going Ahead

Telegraph Tower, which will be used by Coastwatch

A Coastwatch group is going ahead in Scilly.

Boscastle branch organiser, John Davis, says he’d like around a dozen volunteers, aged 18 or over, to staff a safety lookout at the Telegraph Tower.

A recruitment and question and answer session is being held at 7.30 pm on Wednesday 28th March at Tregarthen’s Hotel.

National Coastwatch Trustee, Richard Hews, will be showing a 20 minute DVD which gives an overview of the organization.

So far, four islanders have offered to help and John hopes a public meeting will drum up more helpers.

The Boscastle Group uses 40 watchkeepers, but John says they could start with just weekend cover.

Anyone over 18 can join.
