Water Maintenance Planned In Hugh Town

The Council will be carrying out planned maintenance works to the water systems in Hugh Town next week, which could cause some disruption to services.

Excavation work will begin on Monday the 6th February outside the Chemist on The Bank and the road will remain open throughout.

However, there may be some disruption to water supplies to properties in the Hugh Town area.

Any stoppage to water supplies should take place on Wednesday 8th February during normal working hours but it’s possible there may be some stoppages on Thursday 9th February as well.

The works are to replace an important mains isolating valve, which is now faulty, and the job is being carried out now to avoid disruption later in the season when there is more traffic and higher demand for water.

The Council has apologised for any inconvenience caused by these water works, and says they intend to complete the necessary repairs to the water system as quickly, and with as little disruption, as possible.

If you have any questions about the required works you should contact the Technical Services Department on (01720) 424025.
