New Crane Inaugurated On Quay

Amanda Pender from LAG presents a plaque to Robert Francis

The new fixed crane on St Mary’s Harbour was officially inaugurated this morning in a ceremony on the quay.

The 500kg unloading davit from Falmouth-based company, Spencer Carter, will be used primarily by fishing vessels to unload fish bins, pots and gear.

The £25,000 cost was met through grant funding. £15,000 came from the LAG, together with £6000 from the AONB Sustainable Development Fund and £4000 from the Duchy of Cornwall.

Representatives of all three organisations attended the ceremony and Amanda Pender from LAG presented a commemorative plaque to Robert Francis, Chairman of the Fishermen’s Association.
