Emergency Services To Compete In Annual Pasty Bake-Off

The islands’ emergency services staff will swap truncheons for rolling pins and hoses for hobs when they challenge each other to make the best Cornish pasty.

Organiser, Amelia Mills, says the contestants must make a pasty with one half sweet and one half savoury and the contestants can be as creative as they like.

Amelia says the event is one of the biggest fundraisers in the Ladies Lifeboat Guild calendar, fetching in over £1000 for the RNLI last year.

And competition should be hot with the RNLI team defending their title against the Fire Service, Police and the Coastguard.

There’ll also be a quiz during the evening, while the pasties are baking.

The event will be held on 21st January at the Harbourside Hotel from 7pm with tickets available on the door.
