Medical Evacuation Takes Place Off Scilly

RNAS rescue helicopter from RAF Culdrose

A medical evacuation has been underway this morning, 70 miles southwest of Scilly.

Falmouth coastguard is coordinating the rescue after they received a report at 3:55am this morning that a crewmember onboard a Panama-registered tanker was suffering from abdominal pains.

They patched him through to medial experts at the Queen Alexander Hospital in Portsmouth and arranged for the RNAS Culdrose helicopter to winch him off.
