Good Turnout For Christmas Gymkhana

There was a good turnout yesterday for the St Mary’s Christmas Gymkhana, despite the strong winds and rain.

The bi-annual event, held at the Riding Centre at High Lanes, featured dressage and show jumping competitions and was a chance for young riders to showcase their skills.

Jasmine, riding Tor, came first in the show jumping with Tara winning in the dressage.

Older riders Jess Robson and Rachel Pearce also gave accomplished performances during the competition.

Organiser Claire Morley says the event is now becoming a regular fixture in the islands’ sporting calendar.
