New Nativity Figures At Parish Church

A new set of crib figures has gone on display at the Parish Church, ready for the nativity scene at the Old Town Church cristingle service.

Canon Peter Walker and Lynn Walker made them with islanders in five sessions on Tuesday evenings.

The figures are made from plaster on a chicken wire frame and Lynn learned how to make them when the couple lived in Cumbria.

Most churches buy them and the cost can run into thousands of pounds.

Peter says the new homemade figures should last many years.
