Tributes Paid To Paul Guy

The former Honorary Secretary of St Mary’s Lifeboat has paid tribute to former crewmember Paul Guy who died at the weekend.

John Nicholls says Paul was “a Scilly boy to the core” who loved shooting and fishing and was always happy back in the Islands.

Sam Guy said Paul packed an awful lot into his 39 years. He was very happy with his partner, Carol, and doing well in his job.

Sam says he was greatly respected by all who knew him and Scilly has “lost a very proud Scillonian, way too soon. “

Before he left the islands he was crew on the Lyonesse Lady.

Paul also worked for the Council’s, Direct Labour Force and the Duchy of Cornwall. He was a fisherman for some time, too.

This summer, Paul came home for his sister’s wedding and went over to St Agnes for the lifeboat open day. There he shared his hope that one day he’d return to the islands.

Paul had been in ill health for some time.

He passed away in Merseyside where he has lived since the middle of the last decade.
