Grants Available For Mental Health Projects

The Governors of Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are inviting individuals or organisations to apply for a grant to help tackle the stigma associated with mental health and learning disabilities.

Between £50 and £500 could be awarded for projects in Scilly

Dane Crosby from the Trust says the ideas don’t need to be clever or complicated, but must either encourage social inclusion, tackle stigma or provide a practical tool or resource for people with mental health or learning disabilities.

Last year a grant was awarded to the Memory Cafe on the Islands. They’ve found that singing helps people recall events and experiences, so they asked for funds for a music player and CDs.

When the group made their application last year, they told funders they were preparing a Christmas concert and yesterday, a year on, the School choir sang at their session.

Jenny Byers says the singing was very uplifting and a lot of fun for all the attendees.
