Dial-A-Ride Scheme Set To Continue

The St Mary’s Dial-a-Ride bus service for over 60s and disabled islanders will continue until at least 2013.

Councillors have awarded the contract to operate the Buzza Bus to Age Concern Cornwall for another year.

It’s worth £27,000. Amy Hiron told the Policy and Resources Committee meeting that the service and the relationship with the mainland charity had been successful.

Councillor Richard McCarthy went further, saying that the mainland charity was the ideal partner.

Council Chairman Mike Hicks was impressed with the findings of a postal survey, arranged by the contractor. 117 out of 200 registered users replied and 99% of them were satisfied.

All respondents found driver Dave Maybrey helpful and 86% of registered users believe the Buzza Bus has a positive effect on everyday needs.
