Busy First Day For New Postmistress

New St Mary's Postmistress Lindsay Rodger with husband Euan

It’s business as usual for St Mary’s new postmistress after a hectic first day on the job.

Lindsay Rodger, who took over the Post Office on Monday, described her first day as a “baptism by fire.”

But she says her time working with former postmistress Sue Badcock, who is leaving the role after nearly 40 years, stood her in good stead.

And Lindsay said husband Euan who will work alongside, “is doing marvellously.”

The Post Office was closed until 11.00am on Monday to allow a full audit before the change and then Lindsay said they were hit by the first day of the Christmas postal rush, adding in hindsight, it probably wasn’t the best time to make the handover.

Lindsay says she’s keen to make changes to the business over time but wants to get up to speed on all aspects before making any significant alterations.

But one change is being made in the run up to Christmas. The Post Office will be opening until 4.00pm on Saturdays instead of the usual 12.15pm and Lindsay wanted to remind everyone of the last dates for Christmas post – it’s 14th December for standard parcels, 16th December for second-class post and 20th December for first-class post.
