PTA Christmas Fayre Taking Place This Saturday

The Five Islands School

Islanders are being asked to bake cakes and provide prizes for the first Parents and Teachers Association Christmas Fayre, being held in the new school on Saturday.

PTA Committee member, Sam Mallon, says the committee has worked hard to produce a fun afternoon out.

This year’s fayre will mix entertainment from pupils, face painting and a massive tabletop sale. There’ll also be a used clothing sale for the infant bereavement charity, Sands.

Sam is appealing for cakes and says these can be dropped off at the school on Saturday morning or she can arrange to pick them up if you give her a call.

She says there will be lots of places to buy gifts, with over 35 stalls planned, including cards from the RNLI.

And there will be an unusual take on the traditional raffle. Sam says they’re going to put together hampers as prizes with items donated by the kids. They want infants to donate red and gold items and juniors, green and silver items.

Santa will also make his first appearance in Scilly this year.

Sam hopes parents will support the event. She said it’s the kids that will benefit and the funds raised will help buy those little extras that can’t come from the existing school budget.

It runs between 2pm and 4pm.
