Council Seeks Feedback On Post GCSE Education

The Five Islands School

The Council and the Five Islands School, have commissioned a report by Exeter University to look into how the Islands’ school children fare on the mainland during their post-GCSE education and to see if there is anything that can be done to make the transition smoother.

The research will culminate in a report to Children’s Services, which will set out the main findings and, if necessary, recommend steps to make the transition to the mainland easier for our young people.

The questionnaires are entirely anonymous, and should only take around ten minutes. The survey will close on Monday 5th December.

Keith Grossett, who is overseeing the project for the Council, says the Isles of Scilly are unique in England in sending our 16 year olds to study on the mainland.

He said there has never been any major issues arising and the exercise is about “polishing the service rather than reinventing it.”
