Campaign To Bring Olympic Torch To Scilly Will Continue

The Co-Chair of Island Tourism, Euan Rodger, says he will continue to fight to bring the Olympic torch to Scilly.

The detailed map of the route that the torch will take through the UK was launched on Monday but the nearest it will come to Scilly is Land’s End, where the relay starts on May 19th.

Organisers claim that 95% of the UK population will be within 10 minutes journey of the route.

Euan started a Facebook campaign to bring the torch to Scilly earlier this year when the outline map of the route was announced.

He told us it was disappointing that his lobbying “had fallen on deaf ears.”

But he added, “never say never” and says he will continue to see if there is a way of making it happen.
