Police Urging Care On Wet Roads

St Mary’s police are urging islanders to be careful driving on wet roads.

This follows an accident on Monday afternoon when a middle-aged moped rider lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a granite wall between Tremelethen and the pumping station.

The rider had to slow down quickly as he approached two vehicles, which had almost come to a standstill while passing in a narrow stretch of road.

Both motorists contacted the Police.

The man sustained a shoulder injury and was taken for treatment to the mainland onboard the Scillonian III later that afternoon.
