Rainbows Hold Special Sing-Song With Brownies And Guides

The youngest members of the Girl Guide movement in Scilly, the Rainbows, held a special meeting on Tuesday evening.

They invited the Brownies and Guides along for a sing-song around a “pretend” campfire, complete with hot chocolate and marshmallows.

Meriel Williams says the girls had been learning traditional Girl Guide songs, in fact, ones that Meriel remembers from her own time in the guides, as well as some with a more modern twist, including rapping.

It was also a chance for the older girls to teach new songs to the younger members.

Brownie Freya said she’d had a great time, especially the popular ‘parachute game’, which had everyone taking hold of a huge parachute and shaking it madly to keep a ball in the air.

And Estelle thought the singing was “cool” while Guides Jesse and Phoebe said it brought back great memories of their own days in the Rainbows.

Meriel thanked all the Brownies, Girl Guides and leaders for an “absolutely amazing evening,” adding the singing really was incredible!
