Budget Increases For Home Care and Park House

Park House

Councillors have been asked to approve an increase in the budgets for Park House and home care.

The budget for Park House will be increased by £30,000 to allow increased staffing levels.

The report presented to Councillors at yesterday’s Community Services Committee meeting states that pressure has been placed on the elder care home due to long-term staff sickness and the need to meet minimum staffing levels, particularly for dementia care.

The £3000 increase in the Home Care budget is due to increased demand from the off-islands and will be used to cover extra travel costs on Bryher Boats.

But Councillors have questioned why the Medical Launch cannot be used in such situations. Councillor David Pearson thought it should be possible to use the boat for a fee and said the Council should discuss this with the operators.
