World Mental Health Day Marked With Local Poetry

It’s World Mental Health Day today and the NHS Trust that looks after services for the islands has produced a book of poetry explaining locals’ perspectives on mental health issues.

Mary Dean has written a poem called ‘Watch This Space’, which describes the benefits of watching the sea and the spring flowers as a form of meditation.

Tim Carthew of the Trust says one in four people will experience mental health problems and they are keen to overcome misunderstanding and stigma with the booklet.

You can get a free copy by e-mailing Tim Carthew on timothy.carthew@cft.cornwall.nhs.uk or by ringing 01208 251366. The book can also be viewed online at the Cornwall NHS website.
