Final Thursday Charity Sale Rounds Off Successful Season

There’s another sign that the season is drawing to a close.

The St Mary’s Church charity shop has just hosted its final Thursday sale of the year. From now until next Easter, it’ll just open on Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

Organiser, Sue Hodgson told us it’s been a “brilliant” season and says she can’t believe how much her team of loyal volunteers has sold.

She says the sales have a “very devoted clientele” drawn from the local community as well as many visitors who pop in during their time in Scilly.

One new initiative is that all the takings during the Harvest Festival weekend were sent to Water Aid, a charity that helps provide clean water supplies in areas of drought, something which Sue says she has been trying to arrange for some time now.
