St Mary’s Hospital Transferred To Community Company

As expected, the Board of NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly has approved the transfer of adult community health services to a community interest company.

Peninsula Community Health will take control of St Mary’s Hospital and district nursing services from 1st October.

It means that staff will leave the NHS but the property and infrastructure remains with the health service.

At yesterday’s Trust board meeting in Liskeard, Primary Care Trust Chief Executive Steve Moore confirmed, “staff working within adult community health services will transfer on their existing terms and conditions.”

Peninsula Chief Executive, Kevin Baber, described the process of transition to the new body as “a challenging journey.”

He said he is looking forward to giving staff a stronger voice in determining how they continue to improve the services they provide to local patients.
