Scillonian Flag Handed Over In Afghanistan

Ed passes the Scillonian flag on to Simon

A Scillonian flag has been kept flying in Afghanistan.

Ed ‘Smudge’ Smith, son of St Mary’s resident, Tony Smith, has been on operations with the Counter IED Task Force as a Search Team Commander, and he’s handed the flag over to Lance Corporal Simon Bedford who has just arrived in Afghanistan to start his tour as a Combat Medic.

Ed has thanked all of the people from the islands who sent boxes of goodies, adding that they were very well appreciated.

If anyone would like to carry on supporting the troops the boxes can be sent on to Simon as he now starts his six-month tour.

The post office will send the boxes, which shouldn’t include perishables.
